Job Purpose:

HME is seeking an individual to operate a semi-trailer truck and haul loads of structural and miscellaneous steel to various projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs typical driving operations to support production
  • Detects and reports defective vehicles or questionable conditions, accidents and violations to the department supervisor
  • Maintains the vehicle and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
  • Must be familiar with he vehicle functions in order to perform the tasks stated above
  • Must be able to safely operate vehicle in any given weather conditions
  • Documents and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous long-haul trucking experience in construction or other related industry preferred
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL Drivers’ License
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have good command of the English Language, both written and spoken
  • Must be able to successfully complete all post-offer and pre-employment contingencies
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

Required Skills & Behaviors:

  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time due to regularly required travel
  • Must adhere to all safety and quality assurance requirements
  • Ability to bend, squat, reach and climb
  • Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures
  • Utilize GPS and/or navigation software for trucking routes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
