Job Purpose:
HME is seeking an individual to operate a semi-trailer truck and haul loads of structural and miscellaneous steel to various projects.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs typical driving operations to support production
- Detects and reports defective vehicles or questionable conditions, accidents and violations to the department supervisor
- Maintains the vehicle and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
- Must be familiar with he vehicle functions in order to perform the tasks stated above
- Must be able to safely operate vehicle in any given weather conditions
- Documents and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous long-haul trucking experience in construction or other related industry preferred
- Must have a valid Class A CDL Drivers’ License
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have good command of the English Language, both written and spoken
- Must be able to successfully complete all post-offer and pre-employment contingencies
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
Required Skills & Behaviors:
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time due to regularly required travel
- Must adhere to all safety and quality assurance requirements
- Ability to bend, squat, reach and climb
- Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures
- Utilize GPS and/or navigation software for trucking routes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
